Certain sex differences in aptitudes have been consistently found by various researchers. It has been suggested that the level of aspiration of the individual participant is important as well as the significance of sex. In this study some of the differences in a perceptual discrimination performance task due to: (1) sex and (2) level of aspiration of each group of participants were investigated. It was found that the discrimination performance of females was greater than that of males; level of aspiration does affect both groups, but the female participants to a greater degree; and there is an interaction effect between femaleness, maleness, and aspiration level.
