Empirical evidence shows that heart rate acceleration produces in human subjects belief perseverance, private self-attention, restricted cue range, and relative left hemisphere activation. This article explores the possible relationships among these four dependent variables. This line of research is considered to be an important means of increasing our understanding of the mechanisms underlying persuasion and resistance to persuasion.
