To investigate the effects of pain cues on behavior, responses of high and low aggressive boys were followed either by pain cues or by nonpain cues. Overall, pain cues facilitated the rate of responding more than nonpain cues. Furthermore, high aggressive boys whose responses were followed by pain cues made more responses than the low aggressive boys whose responses were followed by pain cues. Finally, more responses were made by the high aggressive boys than by the low aggressive boys.
